This past week has been very busy for me. I have been able to put my 50mm lens to extensive testing & usage. It has proven to be a worthy addition to my photography kit. This lens I mainly use for my music photography & occasionally for my landscape work but I have different lenses for that subject area. Now that the big festival season is over, bands & musicians start doing smaller gigs, events or releases. This means new sounds & good music & a busy time for all which includes me.
I have been very fortunate to be booked for several gigs/events so far up to the end of November. First up last Wednesday we had the Open Mic at The Venue in Wells raising money on World Mental Health Day for local charity Heads Up Somerset. This was a great night, many musicians wanted to perform & it was very well attended. I took lots of photos of each act/performer & enjoyed what I saw. On Saturday I was asked by local promoter Max from Rock Against Cancer to go along & photograph his first ever Glastonbury Metal Night at the King Arthur. This was a new genre for me as I grew up with heavy metal like Iron Maiden but these bands were a lot heavier. They were Hack Job, Napier who I really liked, Sail & the crazy good headliners Atomck. The gig was great to shoot as it was a venue to which I am well accustomed to & have photographed many gigs there before so I know the layout of the stage & know where to get the good shots & angles.
