Music & Me

I have always loved listening to music. Back when you only had cassette players or Walkman’s, I was always with a pair of headphones. I used to play keyboard a little back when I was younger but stopped when I got older. When I first started taking my photography seriously I had no idea that I would be able to the two & get to see & hear some great music at the same time. I much prefer original music. I’m not really a fan of covers but don’t mind the occasional one. I have been very lucky & fortunate to have been invited & accepted into our local music scene. The music is lovely & original & some incredibly talented people out there.

I have been to lots of local gigs & events with friends either to watch or have been asked to photograph them. I originally didn’t think I would be good enough but with time & practice I have got better & more confident. I have received some lovely feedback from people which I value & am very appreciative of. The final few months of this year is shaping up to be a busy one. I have been asked to photograph a couple of gigs for my friend Georgie Robbins. There is also the 4th annual Rock Against Cancer event I am taking photos at. Hot on the heels from my work at The Godney Gathering I have been asked along to photograph a gig for A Decade Late at the end of October. I’m looking forward to two particular events. The Mark Chadwick solo featuring Jake Martin, Paul Henshaw & Nick Parker. I have seen Nick play with his band several times & they are pretty good. I’ve also had the pleasure of Paul Henshaw play a set of his music in my living room at the beginning of this year. I caught Jake Martin’s set at The Hawthorns a few months ago& really enjoyed it. I’m really looking forward to Mark Chadwick coming along as I am a secret fan of The Levellers. Next up in November will be a gif featuring Stevie & The Masqueraders who I haven’t seen before, Shoto-Daito, a relatively new band & another favourite of mine local band Turner. Both gigs have been put on by local legend & friend of mine Rob Talbot from Live From The Living Room Events.
