Amplified Festival – Ones To Watch

Amplified Festival is one of the fastest growing events we’ve managed to bag ourselves here in the UK. Hitting Gloucester harder than ever before with 2019 as the festival embrace their strongest and most dedicated lineup yet with headliners Jinjer, and Mushroomhead, as well as being jam-packed with some of the best upcoming rock and metal talent from across the country and beyond. Whatever alternative music genre you prefer, this festival has something for everyone’s tastes. Whilst all of the lineup is looking fantastic and healthy, I ran through 2019’s lineup to personally pick my top 5 must-see bands for next year’s show…

5) KINGDOM OF GIANTS

US metalcore crew Kingdom Of Giants are fast-growing popular on UK soil, and it’s no surprise with how many bangers they have under their belt as each release tops the previous. Breakdowns aplenty, catchy choruses to sing along to, and high octane energy to keep you interested throughout an entire set. Having been fortunate to hit our shores in the last year twice – firstly touring with Our Hollow, Our Home and secondly with Oceans Ate Alaska. I won’t exaggerate in saying that it won’t be long before KoG exceed both of those bands and the only way you’ll find out why is to check them out at next year’s festival.

For fans of: Fit For A King / Like Moths To Flame / I, The Breather

4) MORTISHEAD

Bristol industrial metal act Mortishead have recently slayed the Sophie stage at Bloodstock Festival. Their diversity to appear on different festival lineups will really separate them from the herd as they successfully squeeze onto these shows and proceed to stand out ahead of the rest. Expect the unexpected from this set as Mortishead reveal one of the more memorable sets of the festival and will leave you only wanting more. You’ll find out exactly what magazines have been raving about recently with them when you see what they have to offer in terms of an overwhelming, blinder of a show including crazy stage attires and pyro affects!

For Fans of: Slipknot, Rammstein, Strapping Young Lad

3) IDIOM

If you want fun, Idiom are your go-to band. Having previously shared stages with massive acts like Skindred and Sikth has given Idiom the upper hand as they embrace the larger stages with the energy and passion to succeed above the others. After a two year break these Exeter based rockers are back and ready to release new material showing the world exactly how to collaborate punk and metal together with catchy, memorable lyrics and an exciting live show that will leave you wanting more.

For Fans of: Every Time I Die / Skindred / Funeral For A Friend

2) DISHONOUR THE CROWN

If you’re not familiar with London’s Dishonour The Crown then it’s about time you get to know. Having recently reformed after a few years on hiatus, the band have returned with their debut album ‘The English Way’. Cleverly combining thrash metal with hardcore elements is what separates this band from others in the scene as you’ll notice influences from Slayer, Pantera and even Cannibal Corpse within their unique sound. Their political themes are more relevant as ever and deserve to be heard making this comeback not one to be missed up on.

For Fans of: Slayer, Testament, Hatebreed

1) CONAN

Trust me when I say you won’t find a heavier band at this festival, or perhaps any festival next year that even comes close. Conan are the real fricken’ deal here, being probably the heaviest live act I’ve ever witnessed in over ten years of live music. The band are able to lay down the absolute smack down when it comes to massive riffs, powerful vocals and absolute annihilation as they fuse the mighty doom metal genre with tinges of hardcore, grind and sludge forming possibly the greatest metal genre to have ever braced the earth, and in the process have been wisely chosen for Amplified Festival 2019. Hail Conan!
